Mogadao Teacher Certification Program

Back to Antiquity

The MogaDao practice tradition is perpetuated, shared, and safeguarded through a rigorous “antique” certification program. There are six possible teaching certifications within the practice tradition of MogaDao: Morning Medical Qigong Teacher, MogaDao Qigong Teacher, MogaDao Yoga Teacher, MogaDao Sacred Daoist Sexuality Teacher, Inward Honing Spiritual Guide and MogaDao Meditation Teacher, and the MogaDao Sifu.

There are no specific hourly requirements of study for any of the MogaDao certification programs, with the exception of mandatory attendance at two MogaDao Cosmoses for all single-discipline trainees (including multiple single-discipline trainees), and four MogaDao Cosmoses for MogaDao Sifu trainees. MogaDao Cosmoses are week-long all-MogaDao discipline intensives, given twice a year.

The absence of an hourly requirement for any of the certification programs makes it impossible for students to “buy” a MogaDao teaching certification. This is a deliberate paradigmatic decision designed to raise the ethic of practice culture to a traditional monastic level and to place the MogaDao practice tradition completely outside of the prevailing culture of market economy certifications.

Rather than satisfying an hours of study quota, it is entirely up to MogaDao students to study with devotion and dedication in order to gain the knowledge, experience, and the formal (physical) refinement in order to test successfully in the disciplines in which they are training to become teachers. The physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual preparations are not a means to an end but a Way in and of itself. Successful testing is an acknowledgement of a level of excellence and refinement already manifest in the student.

Students can receive their training at the MogaDao Institute in Santa Fe, NM (USA) with Master Zhenzan Dao, at any of the MogaDao Intensives that Master Zhenzan Dao teaches in the USA or abroad (listed on the MogaDao Calendar and the Workshops, Intensives, and Events page of this website), or with any currently certified MogaDao Teacher, in the USA or abroad. Certified MogaDao Teachers are therefore potentially at least partly responsible for the careful and accurate education of students in the MogaDao Teacher Certification Program. As such, they are required to attend one MogaDao Cosmos a year, in order to maintain a supreme refinement of their practices and to bring their training parallel with the most current practice culture of MogaDao: The Way of Complete Harmony, and the teachings of Master Zhenzan Dao at the MogaDao Institute, in Santa Fe, NM.

After intensive study of variable lengths of time, a student aspiring to be a MogaDao Teacher can request a 2-hour private practice session with Master Zhenzan Dao. For MogaDao Sifu Trainees, this is a 4-hour private practice session. These sessions are a mandatory component of the MogaDao Teacher Certification Program, and can only occur with Master Zhenzan Dao. A trainee can request this session when they believe that they are ready to test in their discipline. Alternatively, after careful observation of a student’s practice(s), Master Zhenzan Dao might suggest to a student that they are ready for their private practice session. During this one-on-one session Master Zhenzan Dao will examine every aspect of a student’s practice and knowledge, and accordingly recommend further study or deem the student ready to test.

Academic study is an integral part of a MogaDao Teacher’s training. There is a textbook for each MogaDao discipline. After a student submits their application essay, they are permitted to purchase the MogaDao textbook(s) for the discipline or disciplines in which they are training, through the The Way of Complete Harmony Textbook Store, soon to be available on this website. The 2017 First Edition MogaDao textbooks represent the up-to-date academic standard of all of the practices of the MogaDao practice tradition. These textbooks will be available to students beginning in the summer of 2017.

Maintaining the Integrity of the Tradition

The MogaDao practice tradition represents the final crystallization of the original practices of Master Zhenzan Dao. Although Zhenzan Dao has taught thousands of students over the course of nearly three decades, the practices of MogaDao are intended to be taught only by certified MogaDao Teachers and Sifus who have gone through a rigorous program of certification, and who have been in the most personal way certified by Zhenzan Dao, and who renew that certification once a year with their participation in a MogaDao Cosmos (a week-long all-MogaDao discipline intensive). This is to ensure into futurity the integrity of the MogaDao practice tradition, and to honor and respect those students of Master Zhenzan Dao who have gone through the unique and exacting training to become Teachers and Sifus of MogaDao: The Way of Complete Harmony.
